Let Go & Thrive in the Unknown (No Apologies)

When you own your own business, uncertainty and the unexpected are the name of the game.

How you deal with it makes all the difference.

Are you able to let go of needing to know, wanting guarantees, and having to control things? If not, you will struggle and suffer as a self-employed business owner. In this video I’ll show  you how being able to improvise (and my experience of performing improv) is paramount to getting the results you desire. With a tell-it-like-it-is approach and some hilarious clips from my own improv experience I’ll show you how its done.

But I Don’t Have Any “Extra Money”! – No Apologies Video

I wish I could ____ but I don’t have any “extra” money right now.  Ever utter these self-sabotaging words?

So often people use the excuse of not having any “extra” money as they reason they cannot get the help, support, or resources they need in order to really grow their business.  But this is a Catch-22. You will always be chasing your tail if you’re waiting for money to descend on you before you take the steps necessary to grow.  You must make decisions based on where you want to be, not where you presently are.  Otherwise you’ll always be waiting and stay in a limbo pattern forever.

I don’t know about you but I’ve never had any “extra” money either. In a humorous sketch of small adventures, I take you on a journey and show you where to find that extra money you seek.

Are You Like This Dog?

This morning I heard a really great story told that illustrates ways in which we literally keep ourselves stuck.  Not just stuck as in “what a bummer”, but stuck as in whining and crying out in real bona-fide pain about how our life or business is unfolding.

Watch this quick 2 minute video, hear the story, and learn the solution.

Need a Little Validation?

Couldn’t you use a little acknowledgment? A few compliments? A feel-good moment so you smile authentically from the inside out? I’ve seen this short video on several occasions and I recently came across it again. It’s worth watching for the full 15 minutes or so because I guarantee it’ll restore your faith in the fact that little things do matter and you truly should take some time today to smile, celebrate who you are and celebrate those you connect with.

The Joy of Puppy Love

I am dyed in the wool cat person. It’s not that I don’t like dogs, I really do. Some of them have really won their way into my heart. At the end of the day, though, I am all about felines and can think of nothing better than a cat to curl up to. That’s why I am amazed at how much fun a little puppy love can be and how good it can be for the soul.

The other day when I was up at Columcille, I was hiking up the hill toward the circle of stones when I saw the founder Bill standing in the middle of the circle seemingly preoccupied with something on the ground. As I got closer I realized it was the cutest little puppy I ever did see. Immediately my mood shifted from contemplative and a little down to instant joy, silliness, and fun. The little guy whose name is Lochae (pronounced lochae.jpgLock-a with a long “ay”) is the new canine on the land. He is a white and gray Border collie mix. You see the land has always had border collies but I only knew them as adults. And, while I loved Lance and Duke, I never got to know them from their first arrival only after they already made the place and its stones their own. This little guy, however…. [Read more…]
